Bhai Dooj celebrates the special bond between brothers and sisters. Every year, people observe Bhai Dooj on the second lunar day of the bright fortnight of the Kartika month, shortly after Diwali.
On this special day, sisters prepare their brothers' favourite dishes and bring them to the table, turning a simple meal into a celebration of love and togetherness.
From performing the traditional tilak ceremony to exchanging gifts and enjoying a memorable family meal, every little gesture makes the occasion special.
Why Is Food Special During Bhai Dooj?
Bhai Dooj celebrates the special relationship between brothers and sisters. Traditionally, sisters used to perform a tilak ceremony and pray for their brother’s well-being, prosperity and long life. Brothers, in return, shower their sisters with love, gifts and blessings.
Food plays an equally important role in bringing families together. Sometimes, words are not sufficient to express how much we love our brothers. Cooking their favourite meal is a beautiful way to turn those unspoken feelings into something they can taste, savour, and remember.
